TOGAF Standard, 10th Edition
6 docs
Fundamental Content
+ Guides
TOGAF Series Guides
Same ADM
Phases unchanged
💡 The Big Idea
TOGAF 10 keeps the same ADM and core ideas as TOGAF 9.2, but repackages the Standard into six free-standing Fundamental Content documents plus a collection of TOGAF Series Guides — and renames a few terms. OGEA-101 uses the TOGAF 10 names.
TOGAF 9.2 was a single document divided into Parts. TOGAF 10 is presented as a series of free-standing but closely linked documents.
- ▸📚 The TOGAF Standard = TOGAF Fundamental Content + a collection of TOGAF Series Guides
- ▸🧱 Fundamental Content = six documents: Introduction and Core Concepts; Architecture Development Method; ADM Techniques; Applying the ADM; Architecture Content; Enterprise Architecture Capability and Governance
- ▸🧭 Series Guides give practical guidance for more specific needs (e.g. Business, Information, Security and Technology Architecture; EA/Agile; EA/Digital Enterprise; MSA/SOA; Adapting the ADM)
- ▸⚡ Series Guides evolve faster than the core — delivered through a continuous, incremental pipeline
- ▸🧩 An organization may adopt some documents and not others (e.g. the ADM without the Architecture Capability material)
See how the 9.2 Parts map to the 10th Edition documents, the renamed terms, and what stayed the same.
TOGAF 9.2 (2018) — one document in Parts

Part III — ADM Guidelines & Techniques
→

Part IV — Architecture Content Framework
→
Architecture Content
Part V — Enterprise Continuum & Tools

(TOGAF 9.1 had a Reference Models part; by 9.2 the TRM/III-RM were already separate guides)
→
TOGAF Series Guides (TRM = G175)
Content Metamodel (core + 6 extensions)
→
TOGAF Enterprise Metamodel
Standards Information Base · Governance Log
→
Standards Library · Governance Repository
TOGAF 9 Foundation / Certified (OG0-091 / OG0-092)
→
TOGAF EA Foundation / Practitioner (OGEA-101 / OGEA-102)
These are the changes most likely to trip you up if you learned from older material:
- ▸🔁 "Content Metamodel" (core + 6 optional extensions) → TOGAF Enterprise Metamodel, tailored into an Organization-Specific Metamodel
- ▸🔁 "Standards Information Base" → Standards Library
- ▸🔁 "Governance Log" → Governance Repository
- ▸✂️ "ADM Guidelines & Techniques" → split into ADM Techniques and Applying the ADM
- ▸🔁 "Architecture Capability Framework" → Enterprise Architecture Capability and Governance
- ▸📦 TRM and III-RM → published as TOGAF Series Guides (TRM guide G175), not in the Fundamental Content
- ▸🎓 Certification: TOGAF 9 Foundation / Certified → TOGAF Enterprise Architecture Foundation (OGEA-101) / Practitioner (OGEA-102)
If you know TOGAF 9.2, most of the core still holds:
- ▸🔄 The ADM: Preliminary, Phases A–H, Requirements Management at the centre
- ▸🧱 Business, Data, Application and Technology architecture domains
- ▸📄 Deliverables, artifacts (catalogs, matrices, diagrams) and building blocks (ABBs / SBBs)
- ▸🗂️ The Enterprise Continuum and its four levels
- ▸⚖️ Governance concepts: Architecture Board, compliance, Architecture Contracts
